I’m Ren Wong, a digital visual artist phasing between tradition and modernity.
Rooted in the classical painting process, my work embraces the tried-and-true techniques of the old masters while drawing from both contemporary and historical influences—ranging from manga and video games to the erratic, rebellious spirit of Expressionism.In a world that shifts faster than strobe lights, where meaning can feel slippery, it urges me to create with a loose intention: to document subjects in all their chaotic glory, incongruity, and electrifying humanity.Right now, my practice revolves around portraiture. I’d describe my process as pulling apart a subject and reassembling them—over and over again—until their visage begins to take shape; the once disorganized pieces start to form some semblance of orderliness, with it comes the emergence of something tangible. It’s a contemplative exercise that feels almost surgical: a strange juxtaposition of analytical detachment and fervent craftsmanship.
